What are some examples of the theme of anti-establishment in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid?
I already have that this movie goes against the old west and that criminals are the protagonist. Are there some other themes in this movie that show anti-establishment

The Bruce Springsteen song that says " dust devil in the freezer" do you know the name of it?
Not exactly sure that’s the lyrics but do you know it?

devils and dust? that line isn’t in it but it’s the best i could come up with unless you’re talking about tenth avenue freeze-out and you just heard it wrong.

Apparently it is Tenth Avenue Freeze Out. The link below suggest that quite a few people have heard something similar to what you did in that line. I can’t understand that myself – it has always sounded exactly like what it really is to me.

Is there such a thing as "male privilege" on GWS or on most Internet forums?
Inspired by this question
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index; _ylt=Ak1EPZBclW85rmZtBs.h4azsy6IX;_ylv=3 ?qid=20100130064737AAisrTy&show=7#pr ofile-info-KfCJDp0Laa

I could name quite a few forms of "privilege" most of us enjoy here:

Having access to computers and the Internet, having had the opportunity to learn English and knowing that through that language we have a good chance of being heard even by people in other countries whose languages we may not feel any need to learn, having access to educations that made us at least semi-literate, having the free time to participate in these forums… we’re a lucky bunch come to think of it.

But none of these privileges seems to have anything to do with sex. At least not in the countries from which most of us log in. And as is well known, people can easily pretend (successfully or not) to be one sex or the other.

So does male privilege really play a role here?

Since people dispute the sex of various posters, it seems implausible to me that their actually being men could be conferring them any privilege in the exchanges.

It’s a open forum and anyone can answer and pretend to be whatever they want. The internet is anonymous and no one can trace the posters unless they were superhuman computer hackers. Our privilege is using a computer as many people don’t get access to a computer in this world. I agree with you that the gender of a poster is irrelevant to privilege.

nah

only a DELUSIONAL FEMINISTS would think that
Kunzy D | Jan 30, 2010

No, but there is female privilege in here, in that women and feminists can have men’s answers and question deleted and their accounts banned for not towing the party line; Y!A is heavily biased towards women, so they are the ones that have privilege, much as in almost every other aspect of Western life.

The best part of the question you provided a link to was that the feminist poster, being what is viewed as a stereotypical feminist, spewed lots of hate from her privileged position, resorted to shaming tactics, and that smug undeserved attitude of superiority, and ironically asking a question and making comments that negate the original premise of her question by exemplifying the very "male-only" attitude she was attempting to deride.

Even better, from what she said, she is not coming back to the GWS section of Y!A, and will probably just stick to the sounding board of feministing.com. We should at least appreciate the one highlight of her otherwise contemptible behavior.
Milktoast | Jan 30, 2010

Sorry, I can’t see any ‘privilege’ – everyone has the opportunity to have their say, and contribute to the general core of knowledge and mutual understanding.

If you’re thinking of guys masquerading as gels, and making outlandish comments, like that they deliberately, in the role of female teachers, persecute boys in the class room, then I think they are pretty quickly caught out. So privilege doesn’t exist in that sense.

Of course, it would help if everyone was just honest about their point of view and their sex, etc (that last so we can ‘profile’ their answer when we read it – we’re only human).

As far as ‘mansplaining’ goes, its use is a derogatory, sexist and elitist act against men, it is, once again, a generalisation, and does not represent the facts, which are that women do the same thing just as often. The phrase ‘taking up an unassailable position on the bleedingly obvious’ comes to mind – it’s common to both sexes.

Now what does ‘womansplaining’ mean?

It is finished: John 19:30 & James 1:15? Does it bring forth Death: rider on 4th night mare in Revelation?
References:
John 19:30 (KJV)
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar,
he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head,
and gave up the ghost.

James 1:15
…sin, when IT IS FINISHED, bringeth forth death.

Revelation 6:8
… pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death

If only the law imputes sin (Romans 5:13), and
by curse of law becomes sinners all (Rom 3… Gal 3), and
if inexcusable law even condemns sin imputer (Romans 2:1), and
penalty is Death (Romans 6:23), strengthened by law (1Cor 15:56);
Does law imputing sin bring forth Death mentioned in Revelation 6?

If so, should we then consider what’s first "finished" in John 17,
the work that the only true God gave JC to do: grace and truth;
and fact such work got finished before the cross, not at cross?
(especially if God will have mercy, and not sacrifice: Mt 9:13)

1st work "finished": John 17 vs 2nd "it is finished": John 19?
For in a (human) race, isn’t a work first "finished" called win?
And in a (horse) race, isn’t second "finished" called "place"?
Are we not also told: neither give "place" to the devil (the law);
Bcz law imputed sin, when "it is finished", brings forth Death?

the bible is a fictional book written by wondering nomads thousands of years ago. why don’t you read the book instead of mindlessly following another’s suggestions. the fact the religion as we know it has brought about 90% of the world’s death and destruction since it’s inception is proof enough that we have not yet truly grasped God’s nature.

Jesus said "it is finished". The work he had to do on earth was finished. The plan of salvation was finished.

As sure as we are born we must lay this body down in death. This old body cannot stand what is in store for us in heaven. We will get an immortal body that will stand for eternity.

Paul said we all run a race but we all receive the same trophy which is eternal life.

Death mentioned in St. John’s Revelations is not the same as the "death" that is being conveyed in Romans. One is a literal personification, the other is a metaphorical reference spiritual death, not physical. I think you have thought very long and hard about a rather pedantic and tangential point of the Bible.

Do u think letting Cena defeat Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26 would put him in the same league with other icons?
Like Hogan, Austin, and Rock? Or notable legends like Flair, Bret, Michaels, or Triple H?

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/wi/2009 /1118/462610/john-cena/index.shtml

With the rumors circulating everywhere and the possibility of Cena facing Taker at Wrestlemania 26 (source above), anything could happen. And logically, although I believe The Streak will never end, no one is fitter than Cena to end The Streak at the moment.

Some people have been saying that the honor should go to a young upcoming superstar who will be big in the future like John Morrison, CM Punk, Ted DiBiase Jr, Cody Rhodes, Evan Bourne, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, or Kofi Kingston…but is it right to do so? How do you know the young upcoming superstar would last longer than Undertaker in WWE? A lot of fans believed Kennedy would be a future HOF-er and legend, but look where he is now. There’s no guara*damn*tee at all that the young upcoming superstar would be that great. Not to mention they got no credibility at the moment, and defeating Taker’s Streak will always overshadow every damn thing they did in their career. And I believe, no matter how people cheer for it, Ted DiBiase Jr isn’t nowhere near the class on ending The Streak after a match for ages.

What about giants? Taker faced many giants such as Giant Gonzales, King Kong Bundy, Big Boss Man, Big Show, A-Train, and Mark Henry, right? Yes, and those five matches also have one similarity, they are all bad boring matches that successfully lessened the credibility of The Streak. And since Vince seemed to stop putting giants against The Undertaker because of the big time failure against Mark Henry at Wrestlemania 22, I guess the chance for Kozlov, Jackson, Drew, Knox, and Sheamus are pretty much zero.

That leaves one last contender, the big names. Frankly speaking the big names which have fallen to The Streak would be Jimmy Snuka, Jake Roberts, Diesel/Nash, Sycho Sid, Kane, Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Batista, Edge, and Shawn Michaels. In current WWE, only Jericho and Cena left to face him as the big names. But like Samoan Roots explained in one of his answers, regardless of his amazing skills, Jericho’s credibility to end The Streak is far lower than Shawn Michaels. Heck, maybe even lower than Edge!! Anyone who believes Jericho will end The Streak if he faces The Undertaker at WM 26 must be daydreaming. The match would be an epic, yes. But the anxiety? Slim to none.

A different story with John Cena. Cena’s wrestling skills isn’t half as good as Y2J’s, but who is the top star of the rosters? Who is the biggest name in the company? Who has never lost at singles title matches at Wrestlemania? Who consistently overcame the odds and came out victorious? Who is the face of the corporation? Who is the Icon of WWE? Who is Vince’s Poster Boy? There’s only one answer : JOHN CENA!!!

Over the years since becoming the Champ, Cena has been consistently built as the unstoppable superman. In his first year in SD!, he pawned Mysterio, Big Show, and Booker T. And during his first days in RAW, he owned Jericho, Christian, and Angle. Then he went on to defeat HHH, HBK, Edge, Umaga, Khali, Lashley, Orton, Sabu, and many other top challengers. Sure, he isn’t undefeated at Wrestlemania anymore, but he never lost in singles matches at Wrestlemania. Whenever anyone wants to get some, he’ll give them some. Practically, he has defeated almost every top stars in WWE but one, The Undertaker.

They had a match back at Vengeance which occurred in July 2003, back when Cena had only completed one year in the WWE and was still a mid-card heel in the white rapper gimmick, Cena has come a long way in those 6 years and I believe the WWE has purposely kept Cena and Undertaker apart from each other to save them for a huge main event which only seems Wrestlemania worthy in my opinion. Cena has been a Raw fixture the last 4 years with the Undertaker serving on Smackdown ever since late 2002, however they rarely have come into contact at any joint function involving the rosters. They got a little brawl at RAW’s family reunion in 2006 and Taker owned Cena last monday, leading many fans to believe these two would square off at the grandest stage of them all next year.

By putting Cena vs Taker at Wrestlemania, WWE can hype the match like Andre vs Hogan at WM 3, with the high possibility of the face of WWE ending The Unbeaten Streak of a legendary giant. The icon versus the legend. The unstoppable force versus the immobile object. The Champ versus The Deadman.

Believe me, just by announcing this match WWE would get all the attentions from both younger and older generation fans. Just by hype only, WWE would make millions, let alone if something ‘controversial’ in the match (ending The Streak, I mean). Don’t believe in me? Look for yourself, one Tombstone and the rumor has been spreading all over the world!!

Vince is a good businessman, he knows if he really makes Taker vs Cena at WM official he would
make millions of money and gains tons of attention. Just by the announcement and hype only, WWE would have gotten billions of attention.

Either way, we still don’t know if the match will really happen at Wrestlemania 26 or not, but believe me. No disrespect to other great athletes in WWE, but the very second WWE officially announce the match, that very momenmoment, this match has already taken at least 80% of the hype, attention, hope, anxiety, and promo from the rest of the cards.

And hell yeah, Taker vs Cena at Wrestlemania is Andre vs Hogan in our time. Whether it’s Jericho or Cena, prepare yourself for a classic!

Answer my question above. Best response will get 10 points.

Taker vs Cena would be a great match for WM. But Cena beating Taker will NOT be a good idea. If you’re concerned about Cena not being up there with all those legends, believe me, HE IS!
undertakersymbiote | Nov 19, 2009

Cena is already an icon, just like Hogan,Austin and Rock, like him or not.He has sold lots of merchandise for his fans, has kept WWE going and has fought Triple H,Shawn Michaels,Chris Jericho,Edge,Batista,Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton – all big names. Thus I don’t see why Cena shouldn’t be facing Undertaker.

But Cena beating Taker is a no go.Taker is what he is mainly because of the Streak, and the Streak should be kept alive. Also Cena wouldn’t be in the same league as Bret Hart and HBK.

I agree that Cena vs Undertaker would be a very good match, and a very big draw for Wrestlemania. However Cena gets enough crap he doesn’t deserve from fans at the moment anyway. I he were to end Undertakers streak, he would get more heat than Vickie Guerrero as WWE Champion.

Elle | Nov 19, 2009

I can appreciate that Cena is a very charismatic and popular wrestler, and does know his way around a ring quite well, but I would rather see a match starring Jimmy Wang Yang or Charlie Haas. I, like many people, do not particularly like Cena as a wrestler, given my general discontent for Powerhouse wrestlers, who have a rather repitive match pattern (Cena starts offense with punches, hits some powerslams, has opponent have a go, riles up and then hits the FU, or locks in the STFU). Really, if Cena broke Taker’s streak, I would probably turn away from that company forever.
Honestly, there are very few people who deserve to have the honour of breaking Takers streak. Chris Jericho is the only person in the WWE at present who I believe is the only person qualified to break it. Floating through over companies, Sting has the credentials, and, if he were alive, Mitsuharu Misawa would be a top candidate; But Cena- If that happened, my faith in Vince McMahon would be shattered.
And really, after I have endured Chavo jobbing to a midget, Brian Kendrick and Mr. Kennedy’s releases (upon internet-searching, I am annoyed that I didn’t see the latter wrestle as much), The Khali Kiss-Cam, Shelton Benjamin and Christian going nowhere, Jeff Hardy winning a world champion, while Jimmy Wang Yang hasn’t won a match since the Cruiserweight Championship became redundant, and Triple H inevitably breaking Ric Flair’s record, I am really getting sick of his shit.
